Letter to a famous man

Hi famous man,

How are you? Hope you are doing fine. You have a film ready for release. All the best for your first production. That reminds me, after our grandfather, you said you were the first in the family to produce movies! How nice! I don't think you have any family beyond your parents! You and I both know what I mean! Ok, ok...I know you've mentioned in one of your interviews that your father never got along with his elder brother and that you never got along with any of your cousins! That makes your family limited to your parents, right?! So in that case you are right about being the first one after our grandfather to produce films. Anyway, for those who don't know, your uncle, that is my father produced many a successful movies. Oh yes, but most of them were Gujarati movies! So that doesn't qualify him to be a producer according to Bollywood standards! The Raos, Naidus and Ratnams and Rays of the world can't be called 'producers', phleaaase!

By the way, I was very happy to see your emotional side some months back when you said so many wonderful things about our grandfather, Vijay Bhatt. You said you shared a room with him, though you did not mention how many years. You said you were the apple of his eye but you didn't tell us about how your grandfather never saw you for days and would stand at the window just to get a glimpse of you and see you pass by. You said he was a voracious reader but you never told us about how you refused to give one book he wanted because you were partying with your friends and didn't want to waste time looking for it. Anyway, who cares, right? When you said you never got along with your cousins, you never told us how you would escape from your mother and hide in our house and when you smelt my mom cooking your favourite 'Dhokli nu shaak' you would secretly come over and eat it. All that is utter bullshit, I know.

So what else is happening in your life? Do you still remember Saket? We all do. I'd read what you had written some years back about no place could be home but our Saket. Remember how you came to our place and we all cried together before leaving that haven? Oh! but you don't have any family to remember. Why do I have to even talk about this?!

Anyway, you have a good life ahead and all the best for Mumbai Salsa!

Love,
L
